We are excited to announce the launch of Student Research Programme in collaboration with the United Nations Committee on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of Their Families (CMW).

The Student Research Programme, initiated by Younous Arbaoui, provides a unique opportunity for students of our Masters ‘International Migration and Refugee Law’ (IMRL) to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting while supporting the important work of the UN CMW, giving them a hands-on role in global migration governance. It is a particularly valuable experience for students with an interest in migration law, human rights and international law-making.

Starting in September, three of our students – Alina Stashynskaya, Romy Babtist and Natalia Robledo Contreras – will be the first cohort of student researchers to support the CMW. These students will work remotely throughout their internship, but will also attend the Committee’s 39th session in Geneva in December.

Their tasks will include providing research support on various legal and policy issues related to the protection of the rights of migrant workers, as well as contributing to tcurrent hematic projects in line with the Committee’s mandate.

We are proud of this collaboration, which takes place in the context of the signed Memorandum of Understanding between CMW and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
