ACMRL is happy to welcome Inga Broerse to our team at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. 

Inga holds a BA with Honours in European Studies from the University of Amsterdam, where she also published her first article entitled ‘Between Mobility and Inclusion: The Position of Mother Tongue Instruction in Sweden and Denmark’ in European and Regional Studies. Afterwards, she completed an LLM in International and European Law at the University of Amsterdam. In her Master’s thesis titled ‘The Italy-Albania Agreement: externalising asylum procedures in violation of human rights’, she critically examines the consequences of the Italy-Albania Agreement on the external processing of asylum applications and explores its potential impact on human rights. In comparison with international examples, she also explores the new dimension of externalisation of responsibility in the EU context. 

In addition to her academic achievements, Inga brings with her a wide range of experience, having worked as a student assistant for European Studies at the University of Amsterdam, as a candidate and volunteer for the political party Volt, and most recently as a research intern for the European Migration Network at the Research and Analysis Department of the Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) in the Netherlands

With us, Inga is starting as a Junior teacher. She looks forward to further developing her skills, particularly in teaching, and expanding her research in migration and asylum law. 

We are happy to have Inga join our team, as her work will contribute to our ability to offer this variety of courses to our students.
