Marcelle Reneman’s Startup Clinic wins Innovation Award!

We are happy to announce that the that the Startup Clinic project of Marcelle Reneman, assistant professor in migration law at our section, has won the VU innovation award! Marcelle set up the Clinic in collaboration with Jan Gooijer and Kaylee Zournas.

The Innovation Award serves to honor a team of employees who have developed a project aimed at improving educational practice or giving innovative substance to the educational vision of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. This may also involve a collaboration between lecturers, supporting staff, students and social actors. The winning team receives € 50,000 to execute their innovation.

The Startup Clinic is currently being developed with the aim of giving students the opportunity to help startup entrepreneurs with legal questions, under the supervision of experienced lawyers. Through an intensive collaboration with lawyers, a unique coaching process is established. The students gain practical experience, use their knowledge to make a societal impact and are introduced to the job market. See for more info on the project: https://vu.nl/en/news-agenda/agenda/newyearsgala/index.aspx
